The Lilongwe Institute of Orthopedics and Neurosurgery (LION) is an autonomous not-for-profit institution managed by the LION Trust. LION functions as the orthopedic and neurosurgical department of Kamuzu Central Hospital and provide quality public and paying services in trauma, orthopedics, neurosurgery, with the goal of reducing the high level of disability and its economic impact on the people of Malawi, on the individual and on community level.

Haukeland House Gardener
Period: Two (2) years, subject to extension
Responsible to: Haukeland House Manager
Job Summary
The Gardener at LION house is responsible for maintaining the grounds of designated places remarkably well. He ensures that all the surroundings are attended to and properly cared for including grass, flowers, hedges and shrubs. He will also maintain the safety and security of LION house.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The specific duties shall include the following;
- Mows/slashes grass to acceptable level
- Waters grass and flowers so that they do not wither or die
- Prepares flower beds
- Sows and transplants flowers and grass
- Cleans external toilets of the designated buildings
- Ensures that the grounds in the designated places are clean including car parks and grooves
- Ensure safe custody of working tools,
- Ensure security with guesthouse
- Handle, move, manipulate and position items or materials
- Performs any other duties assigned
Qualification and Experience
- Minimum Junior Certificate of Education
- Certificate in landscaping
- At least one year experience as a gardener
- Fluent in English a must
